It was a lot of fun sitting  down with Rashaad Ernesto Green. During the discussion, he talked about his path to filmmaking and how it has evolved through the years.  He shares the variety of factors in his life that has inspired his films and touches on the lucky breaks that came his way. Last but not least, he shares his thoughts on why it is an incredible time to be a storyteller or color regardless of whether one works in television or film. It was a great conversation. More about Rashaad Ernesto Green:

A graduate of Dartmouth College and NYU Tisch Graduate Film School, recipient of the Princess Grace Foundation Award and Spike Lee Fellowship, New York native Rashaad Ernesto Green’s first feature, Gun Hill Road, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and received nationwide theatrical distribution.  Named in Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film and indieWIRE’s Ten New Voices in Cinema. Rashaad’s films have screened on Netflix, HBO, BET and festivals internationally.  He’s been supported by HBO, NBC, Time Warner, Sundance Feature Film Institute, Tribeca Film Institute and IFP.  Most recently, Rashaad has directed episodes of NBC’s Grimm, Warner Bros/CW’s Supernatural and Vampire Diaries, and BET’s Being Mary Jane and The Quad.
